April Presidents Message

It has been a really wet April but the weather lately has been nice and we are hoping it continues. The sun is shining.

We are currently getting Fish Pond Functions booked around the area. We are in need of volunteers that may be able to help out with these functions. If you are interested and able to help please call us at 360-985-2495.

Greg has been attending different meetings around the area. Once we have been given an update on how those meetings are going we will include them in the next newsletter.

Don’t forget to get your tickets for the 2018 Boat Raffle.

Welcome to all the New members and the current members of FOC. We thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

All of us here at Friends of the Cowlitz

April Fishing Report

Fishing the Cowlitz has been OK. Some days are slower then the others. We are seeing salmon and steelhead. The hatchery took in over 700 steelhead last week so we are seeing salmon and steelhead being caught at Barrier Dam. Mostly steelhead coming from Blue Creek. Boats are putting in at Barrier and Blue Creek. They are using a variety of things– sand shrimp, eggs, tuna bellies, corkies, jigs and blue fox spinners. The river is running at 5100 CFS right now.

Mayfield Lake is producing nice trout, they are catching silvers at Riffe Lake, catching trout of Swofford Pond. They are catching limits of trout out South County park in Toledo.

We have a nice variety of fish being caught in the area. So take a day and relax and go fishing.
