My President’s Message

Hope everyone has been able to enjoy the nice weather we have been having lately.

Memorial Day Weekend is almost here. There will be the annual Fish Pond at Barrier Dam Campground for kids 12 an under. If you aren’t busy stop in and say hello and bring the kids to catch a fish.

We are still looking for Volunteers to help with the function on Memorial Weekend and all other fish pond functions. There are two coming up in June, If you are interested in helping out please contact Barrier Dam Campground at 360-985-2495.

We are also looking for volunteers to help with the net pens. If anyone is interested please contact us.

Thank you,

Friends of the Cowlitz

May Fishing Report

Things are still going about the same. They are getting some nice fish, but they are still putting their time in. Both at Barrier Dam and Blue Creek. The water has come to 8400 cps, so it is a little high again. For water visibility you’ve got six to ten feet., depending on the weather. Boaters and bankers both are fishing, as of right now the bank fishermen is who I have heard back from the most. At Barrier Dam they are picking up some steelhead now. And even an occasional Chinook, down in the Blue Creek area. Trout fishing has been good from what I hear. Mayfield Lake has been getting trout. Riffe Lake are getting some silvers and bass. Swofford Pond they have been catching trout, blue gills, and some cropies. South County Park they are still getting some nice trout and pretty good size.

Take a day and go Fishing!
