Not much new on the Cowlitz River this week. Everything is about the same. They are still picking up steelhead, mainly in Blue Creek area. Still not red hot but the fishermen putting their time in are getting some nice steelhead.
And of course they have closed the Spring Chinook on March 1, so you cannot fish on them. If you do happen to hook one you just have to release it. The water has been staying almost the same around 5000 for quite a few days, yesterday they did a spike it up to 6 something but we are back down to 5050 right now. That is kind of a plus with the water not fluctuation fish do bite better, once they get settled down.
I am hearing of fish off the bank and boat fishermen. Over the weekend there was quite a few boats out. I heard only three fish were caught but I am sure there was more because I don’t talk to everybody. I also heard that Mayfield is picking up trout. I heard Riffe is picking up silvers again and Swofford Pond has been picking up some trout also.
So we will have a little variety of fishing in the area. Bundle up and take a day and relax and go fishing!
